A Focus on Research
Mathematics
Mathematics research interests at Mississippi State University lie in four main categories: 1) Analysis, 2) Algebra, Combinatorics, and Topology, 3) Computational and Applied Mathematics, and 4) Differential Equations. Faculty in each area actively publish papers and work with graduate students pursuing PhDs and Masters degrees. Find out more about each research group by going to their respective pages indicated to the right.

Statistics
Research interests of the statistics faulty at Mississippi State University includes topics in applied and theoretical statistics as well as applied and theoretical probability and data science. The majority of the work is driven by practical problems in the spectrum of disciplines including, but not limited to, modelling financial to climatology data, linear and response surface modelling in agriculture and veterinary sciences, and engineering fields. Their work also addresses important questions arising in data science such as data integration, data quality, dimension reduction, and more.
