The p-adic number system and their strange properties

Title: The p-adic number system and their strange properties
Abstract: The p-adic numbers are a different extension of the rational numbers from the usual extension to get the real and complex numbers. This is achieved by defining "closeness" in a different way. With this new idea, some very "strange" things occur. I will discuss the geometry, topology, and calculus on this new number system as well as give an application in how they are used.
