A "Differential Equations Weekend" on the Mississippi State University campus will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2004 in Allen Hall. The purpose of this one-day meeting is for the DE researchers in the neighboring institutions to meet and discuss their research problems. In particular, this would be an excellent forum for graduate students to present lectures and to meet and interact with the DE researchers in the region. This year, Professors Bill Fitzgibbon (University of Houston) and Martin Klaus (Virginia Tech) will present one-hour lectures. All other presentations will be limited to 25 minutes. To present a paper you must submit an abstract by February 11th 2004.
Such an activity originated in 1996 at Mississippi State University. Since then, University of Memphis hosted this event in 1998, 1999, and 2002. In 2004, the meeting returns to Mississippi State University and will be partially funded by the IMA (Institute for Mathematics and Its Applications at the University of Minnesota). There will be no registration fee for this meeting. Also, the breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided for all participants on the day of the meeting. Some travel/housing support is available for graduate students (application deadline: Feb 1st,2004).
